Hubert Hoffman supports developing a Regional Bluffland Protection Plan (“Regional Plan”) as a collaborative effort involving La Crosse County governmental entities because the bluffs provide great value to our residents, visitors, schools and universities, businesses, and other organizations within the County of La Crosse. Such a plan would allow a comprehensive planning approach for a resource that does not adhere to municipal borders. The purpose of the plan would be to protect our natural resources, including wildlife habitat, to promote health by creating opportunities for world-class outdoor recreation, and to preserve the bluffs’ scenic beauty.
On Thursday, the July 17, 2014 the La Crosse County Board will debate placing non-binding ballot referendums on the November ballot, at taxpayer expense.
For a third time, the County Board leadership wants a government-funded health insurance referendum on the fall ballot. Continually placing the same non-binding referendum on the ballot is known as a “never-end-um.” These same SEIU funded referendum are on the Milwaukee County Ballot where the taxpayers will pay and additional $100,000 in increased printing cost. This is an attempt to affect the fall election outcome, with little regard for the actual results of the referendum vote, which will have little effect as they are non-binding. When La Crosse County Board Supervisors take the oath of office, we swear to perform our duties in a nonpartisan and impartial manner. County Board supervisors should not demand taxpayers foot the bill for these highly partisan PAC based referendums when they denied allowing our neighbors in District 9 the ability to select their representative. Please contact your county representative and let them know the the La Crosse County Board is not a puppet government for SEIU. After a second strong storm in as many weeks, several residents of District 19 had storm damage and down trees, including District 19 Supervisor Hoffman. Hoffman wasted no time in going to the aid of his friends and neighbors throughout the district leaving the downed tree and storm debris in his own yard until last. Hoffman stated, "It's important that we come to the aid of our friends and neighbors during crises such as this. I'm just glad nobody was seriously injured and that I was able to aid the community."
Supervisor Hoffman returned to one neighborhood home on Tuesday (7/1), with helpers in tow, to aid a resident with the clean up of several downed trees. The La Crosse County Board overwhelmingly voted for a new administrative center and to pass the costs on to the county property tax payers. Hubert Hoffman was one of only a handful of County Board Supervisors who voted against the muti-year tax increases.
Hubert Hoffman was appointed to the Lake Onalaska Protection and Rehabilitation District Board. Pursuant to s. 33.28, Wis. Stats., membership shall include 1 person appointed by the County Board Chair with the approval of the County Board who is a member of the Planning, Resources and Development Committee or is nominated by that committee. Hoffman requested the appointment as he believes lake Onalaska to be one of La Crosse County's most valuable natural resources.
Hubert Hoffman requested the La Crosse County Board allow our friends and neighbors, who reside in La Crosse County District 9, have a vote for their representative on the Board. 65% of the La Crosse County Board refused to allow our neighbors in District 9 a vote. Please call/email/write these County Board Supervisors and ask them why they didn't want our neighbors in District 9 to vote.
Hubert Hoffman was appointed to the Planning, Resources and Development Committee. The Planning, Resources & Development Committee (PRD) acts as the policy oversight committee for Land Conservation; Zoning, Planning and Land Information; Register of Deeds; County Surveyor; and University Extension. The PRD Committee promotes the development of comprehensive county-wide resource conservation programs; handles all matters pertaining to County planning and zoning and long range development plans; deals with issues concerning the Farmland Preservation Program; and agriculture and extension education. This committee oversees the County Surveyor, Land Conservation, Register of Deeds, University Extension, and Zoning, Planning & Land Information Departments.
Monday, April 21, 9:00 a.m. at the La Crosse County Clerk's Office After a close race and an official recount of the votes, I am humbled that the people have put their faith in me to be the County Board Supervisor for District 19. I would like to thank Mr. Downer for his service on the board, and all those who voted in this election.
To represent you better, as a County Supervisor, it is important to have a good understanding of City and Town matters. I have already attended the City Council and Town Board meetings, and welcome other County Supervisors to join me as regular attendees. I look forward to working with the City, Town, and County to improve communication and collaboration between the County and the municipalities. By working together more effectively, we can be more fiscally responsible, and lesson the strain on the taxpayers. I will continue to update huberthoffman.org with important District 19 information and will gladly send regular emails to anyone who submits a request and supplies an email address. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me. I look forward to representing you on the La Crosse County Board, and thank you for your support. Hubert Hoffman 19th District Supervisor La Crosse County Board of Supervisors N5449 Sobkowiak Rd. Thomas Downer was ABSENT from today's recount. This is evidence that the recount was used to disenfranchise the residents of District 19 by preventing then from having a voice at the County Board Restructure Meeting on April 15. Now that the recount is concluded, and the results known, I hope that the La Crosse County Board can find some remedy to almost 8,000 residents having no say in who leads the county. Hubert Hoffman La Crosse County, Supervisor Elect, District 19 608-792-0669 Hubert Hoffman was notified this morning that Mr. Thomas Downer has requested a recount for La Crosse County Supervisor District 19, scheduled to take place on Friday April 11, at 8 a.m.
Clerk Dankmeyer believes the optical scan machines to be accurate, as do I, and does not expect the outcome to change. Although it is Mr. Downer’s right to request a recount, this is something I would not have done had the outcome been different. Requesting the recount ensures the residents of District 19 will have NO REPRESENTATION at the County Board Reorganizational meeting on April 15. This along with the other news of a newly elected supervisor resigning assures that roughly 7% or 8,000 residents will have NO VOICE as to who should lead the county board. When the recount is concluded, and the results known, I hope that the La Crosse County Board can find some remedy to almost 8,000 residents having no say in who leads the county.
