For the first time in modern history, the La Crosse County Board has decided to let the voters choose who will fill a vacant seat.
In May of 2014, Hubert Hoffman requested a special election to fill a vacancy on the La Crosse County Board. At that time, 65% of the La Crosse County Board said "NO" but, Hoffman's actions in 2014 had lasting results. Today, over the objection of County Board Chair Tara Johnson and her staunch supporters, the County Board ordered a special election to fill the vacant County Treasure position.
When asked about the board's decision Hoffman stated, "I'm glad to see that my actions in 2014 have changed the way the Treasure vacancy will be filled and I hope the board will continue to favor elections over dictatorial appointments to fill vacancies."
