Hoffman Opposes SEUI referendums on fall ballot

7/15/2014

On Thursday, the July 17, 2014 the La Crosse County Board will debate placing non-binding ballot referendums on the November ballot, at taxpayer expense.

For a third time, the County Board leadership wants a government-funded health insurance referendum on the fall ballot. Continually placing the same non-binding referendum on the ballot is known as a “never-end-um.”

These same SEIU funded referendum are on the Milwaukee County Ballot where the taxpayers will pay and additional $100,000 in increased printing cost.  This is an attempt to affect the fall election outcome, with little regard for the actual results of the referendum vote, which will have little effect as they are non-binding.

When La Crosse County Board Supervisors take the oath of office, we swear to perform our duties in a nonpartisan and impartial manner. County Board supervisors should not demand taxpayers foot the bill for these highly partisan PAC based referendums when they denied allowing our neighbors in District 9 the ability to select their representative.

Please contact your county representative and let them know the the La Crosse County Board is not a puppet government for SEIU.
