Hubert Hoffman was notified this morning that Mr. Thomas Downer has requested a recount for La Crosse County Supervisor District 19, scheduled to take place on Friday April 11, at 8 a.m.
Clerk Dankmeyer believes the optical scan machines to be accurate, as do I, and does not expect the outcome to change. Although it is Mr. Downer’s right to request a recount, this is something I would not have done had the outcome been different.
Requesting the recount ensures the residents of District 19 will have NO REPRESENTATION at the County Board Reorganizational meeting on April 15. This along with the other news of a newly elected supervisor resigning assures that roughly 7% or 8,000 residents will have NO VOICE as to who should lead the county board.
When the recount is concluded, and the results known, I hope that the La Crosse County Board can find some remedy to almost 8,000 residents having no say in who leads the county.
